Mangaluru: City police have booked three persons for allegedly facilitating the entry of Bangladeshis into the city and employing them at construction sites.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said on Tuesday, that a case has been registered against three persons identified as Moidul Islam, Rasul Islam and Delaewar Hossain.Police have arrested Delaewar Hossain,29, and Md Moidul Islam,35, both from Murshidabad in West Bengal, in connection with the case.DCP (law and order) Mithun HN coordinated with Kolkata police to facilitate one of the arrests in Kolkata. A Mangaluru police team has left for Kolkata to bring the accused to the city. “Once he is brought to Mangaluru and questioned, we will be able to ascertain whether more persons are involved in the network,” the commissioner said.The development comes a day after Urwa police found 11 Bangladeshi nationals, including minors, allegedly staying and working at two construction sites within the police station limits. The detection was made days after eight Bangladeshi nationals were found during a similar verification drive in Surathkal police station limits.

VHP welcomes police moveThe Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) welcomed the decision of the city police commissioner to intensify verification drives across all police station limits in the commissionerate following the detection of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Surathkal, Urwa police station limits.VHP Karnataka Dakshina Pranta Sahakaryadarshi Sharan Pumpwell said the network of illegal immigrants may not be confined to Mangaluru, and could have spread across the coastal region. The organisation urged the inspector general of police (Western Range) to order similar verification drives across Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.He said the VHP will extend full cooperation to police in their efforts to identify illegal Bangladeshi nationals in the coastal districts.
