New Delhi: In northwest Delhi’s Samaypur Badli, a man allegedly plotted a robbery targeting his own brother-in-law, believing he was carrying a bag full of cash, only to later find it was empty.The incident took place on May 21 when Sharad Kumar Thakur, who works at an auto spare parts shop in Kashmere Gate and regularly collects cash for his employer, was targeted in Rohini. Police said an accused boarded the victim’s scooty at a traffic signal, threatened him with a knife and forced him to drive towards Divya Jyoti Apartments, where another accomplice intercepted them and allegedly snatched his mobile phone, keys and bag.During the investigation, CCTV footage led police to a black scooter, the owner of which, identified as Prashant Verma, turned out to be the victim’s brother-in-law.Police said Verma had allegedly planned the robbery with associates Harsh and Nitish Kashyap, believing the victim was carrying cash. However, the accused later discovered the bag was empty. A knife, the scooter and the robbed bag have been recovered. Three of them were arrested.
