Panchkula: The Haryana Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau detained two more suspects in connection with the alleged Rs 145 crore fraud related to the municipal corporation’s fixed deposits in Kotak Mahindra Bank.Crores of rupees were transferred in the account of one of the suspects, say police. Another person is being questioned for his suspected involvement with the main accused in the case.Later in evening, one of the suspects, identified as Rajat Dahra, was formally arrested in the case. Investigating officials claimed Dahra confessed that he received more than Rs 60 crores from two accounts between 2020 and 2025. He allegedly transferred this money to many other accounts which are being investigated, officials added.The first suspect to be arrested — relationship manager Dilip Kumar Raghav — was produced in court on Thursday, which remanded him in ACB custody for four days. Defence counsel Gursimar Singh alleged that the arrest was illegal and that the accused was produced in court 24 hours after his arrest.ACB sought seven days’ custody and told the court that Raghav was arrested as per legal procedure and on the basis of evidence. Police said they have seized certified bank account statements and documents from both the bank and corporation.Investigators said Raghav needs to be questioned in custody as he is suspected of withholding key information. ACB plans to interrogate him about transactions in multiple accounts, the role of other officials, and possible involvement of bank employees and private individuals.The ACB counsel their investigation will focus on suspected forgery of documents, including letters, vouchers, and fake seals. Police suspect a larger conspiracy and want to identify locations where the plan was executed and recover incriminating material allegedly kept at the accused’s native place in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh.The case has been registered under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and BNS.
