Prayargaj: As many as 29 devotees, including women and children, travelling in a pickup van sustained injuries, seven of them seriously, after the van carrying them rammed into a tree and overturned near Kurai village under the limits of Bindki police station in Fatehpur district on Sunday.Upon being alerted, senior police and administrative officials rushed to the spot and brought the injured to Fatehpur Medical College for treatment. Seven of the passengers, who sustained head injuries, were referred to Kanpur’s Hallet Hospital for treatment.SP (Fatehpur) Abhimanyu Manglik told TOI, “A joint team of police and administration is coordinating with Hallet Hospital authorities for better treatment of the seven injured people who were referred to Kanpur from the district medical college.” He added, “The condition of all injured persons was stable.”The SP added that the incident took place when a pickup van was carrying as many as 29 devotees from Kurai village (Fatehpur) to Mangarh in Pratapgarh for darshan. The injured also included the driver and owner of the vehicle.The initial police investigation revealed that brake and steering failure caused the road accident. However, a technical team has been assigned to find out the actual cause of the accident.
