Prayagraj: The body of a first-year MBBS student of Dr Sonelal Patel Medical College was found near the hostel lawn in Pratapgarh district on Sunday morning. Police said no suicide note was recovered and a joint team of Kotwali police, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and forensic experts was investigating the case.The deceased, identified as Mithlesh Kumar (27), was a native of Ballia and had taken admission to the medical college in 2024.ASP (East) Alok Kumar said action will be initiated once the autopsy report is received.He added that police received information about a body lying on the hostel lawn around 8 am and rushed to the spot. Senior police officials and forensic experts also reached the site to investigate.Hostel inmates told police they had dinner together on Saturday night, and everything seemed normal until then. They also said Mithlesh lived in room No. 211 on the first floor of the hostel building and had failed his first-year examinations.
