Bengaluru: Pre-university colleges under the Bengaluru city corporations recorded a pass percentage of 74.16% in the II PU examination, the results of which were announced Thursday.A total of 2,593 students from 19 PU colleges across five city corporations appeared for the exam and of these, 1,923 cleared it. Among them, 260 students secured over 85% marks, qualifying for distinction.The Greater Bengaluru Authority announced a cash incentive of Rs 35,000 each for all 260 distinction holders. GBA’s senior assistant director (education), Munishamappa, said the amount will be provided by the respective corporations under their education budgets. “This year’s number of distinction holders in corporation PU colleges was the highest so far. We saw an improvement in the overall results. In addition to this, GBA will be announcing Rs 25,000 scholarships for SSLC students from corporation schools, who score more than 85%,” he said.Among institutions, Bhairaveshwara Nagar PU College under the west city corporation emerged as the top performer with a pass percentage of 88.82; followed by Kasturibanagar PU College under the central city corporation, with 86.45%, and Srirampura PU College under the west city corporation, with 81.99%.Students from Cleveland Town PU College under the north city corporation put up a strong performance. Firdose and Sajida (CEBA) scored 582 out of 600 (97%) in the commerce stream, while Afreen Kouser (PCMB) secured 578 out of 600 (96.3%) in the science stream.In the arts stream, Musarath Nadeem Pasha from Bhairaveshwara Nagar PU College scored 574 out of 600 (95.66%), emerging as a top performer.
