Nagpur: Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Nagpur, intercepted a truck at Palandur in Lakhni taluka of Bhandara district on Wednesday and seized 25.430 kg of ganja allegedly being transported from Odisha to Nagpur. Two persons, including the vehicle driver, were arrested in connection with the seizure.Acting on a tip-off about ganja smuggling along the Odisha-Bhandara-Nagpur route, an ANTF team reached Palandur after completing the required pre-raid formalities, accompanied by two official witnesses. The team intercepted the suspected vehicle and conducted a search, during which the contraband was allegedly found.The seized ganja has been valued at approximately Rs 12.71 lakh, while the combined value of the contraband and the vehicle has been estimated at Rs 32.96 lakh.The arrested accused have been identified as Ghulam Wajid Ghulam Wazir, a resident of Zingabai Takli, and Shaikh Shahbaz Shaikh Sarwar, a resident of Kapil Nagar, who was allegedly driving the vehicle.According to police, the suspected consignment was being transported through Bhandara towards Nagpur. Investigators are now probing the source of the contraband, its intended destination and the alleged role of others who may have been involved in the transportation network.Police said further action would follow after questioning the two arrested accused and establishing the wider supply chain.Police said the seizure was made on the directions of Anti-Narcotics Task Force Nagpur Superintendent of Police Ajit Tike. Following the interception, a case was registered at Palandur police station under NDPS Act.
