Gurgaon: A 22-year-old delivery executive died after his scooter was hit by a speeding water tanker inside DLF Alameda Society in Sector 73.The victim, Damodar, was a native of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh. According to a complaint filed by his father, Ramveer, Damodar came to Gurgaon just a week ago for work and joined Blinkit at its Sector 49 facility.“The accident took place on Sunday evening when Damodar was returning to his rented accommodation in Begampur Khatola after finishing work,” a police officer said. He was on his scooter when a water tanker, bearing registration number HR-55 AD 7789, allegedly hit his vehicle while being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner near DLF Alameda Society.Passers-by rushed the injured delivery executive to Ayushman Hospital near Hero Honda Chowk, where he was admitted for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday.Following information from the hospital, a police team from SPR station reached the spot and collected the medico-legal case documents. The body was shifted to the General Hospital mortuary for postmortem before being handed over to the family.Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Badshapur police registered an FIR under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Police said they initiated legal proceedings against the driver of the water tanker and were investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal crash. “The driver has been taken into custody and is being investigated about the sequence of events. Meanwhile, CCTV footage from the area is also being analysed. Efforts are also underway to complete further legal formalities and gather evidence from the accident site,” the officer further said.
