Chennai: A 22-year-old man was attacked by a gang of five people in Tambaram on Monday night. The victim, identified as Vinoth, a resident of Ranganathapuram, sustained severe injuries in the assault.According to police, Vinoth was walking along 4th Cross Street in Ranganathapuram when a group intercepted him. The gang attacked him with sickles and fled the scene immediately after the incident.Nearby residents rushed to his aid and admitted him to a private hospital for emergency treatment. He was later shifted to Chengalpattu govt medical college hospital.Police investigations revealed that Vinoth had prior enmity with a history-sheeter known as ‘Gold’ Mani from the same locality. Gold Mani, who was recently released from prison, is suspected to be involved in the assault along with his associates. Police registered a case and launched a manhunt to nab the assailants.
