Chandigarh: As many as 212 youths participated in a ‘Nasha Mukti Shapath Chakra’ and signature campaign organised by MY Bharat Chandigarh at Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, Saturday, marking the launch of the nationwide 100-week Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan.Organised under the ministry of youth affairs and sports, the programme aimed to involve young people in the campaign against drug abuse and encourage them to promote a healthy, drug-free society.A total of 212 participants took a pledge to stay away from drugs, contribute towards a drug-free India and signed in support of the campaign.District youth officer Vinay Kumar said the 100-week campaign was a nationwide youth-led movement and Chandigarh’s youth had an important role in taking its message to colleges, institutions and communities. He said the objective was not only to create awareness but also to empower young people to become ambassadors of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.The programme also featured youth-led discussions, slogan-writing and other awareness activities highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse and the role of young people in building a drug-free society.Organised in collaboration with Dev Samaj College for Women, the event witnessed participation from students, faculty members and MY Bharat volunteers. The initiative forms part of the broader Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan, aimed at mobilising youth towards the vision of a healthy and developed nation.
