The murder in question happened near the Old Bus Stand in Kasaragod town on Dec 22, 2014. Abid, 24, a native of Talangare Kunnil and an SDPI worker, was helping his father near their mattress shop around 9.30pm when a group of armed assailants brutally assaulted him and stabbed him. Though nearby shopkeepers rushed to the spot on hearing his screams, the attackers escaped from the spot. Abid succumbed to his injuries a day later. Police had then arrested 21 BJP-RSS workers after registering a case.
