Gandhinagar: Speaking at the launch of Prime Minister’s Family Care Tracker (PM-FCT) as a pilot project in Gandhinagar district on Sunday, Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah said that 2014, when Narendra Modi took over as the country’s PM, will be marked as an important year in the country’s history since independence.“Whenever the history of 100 years of independent India is written, it will have two distinct sections: India before 2014 and India after 2014,” Shah said, adding that this change has been possible because people have reposed faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also attributed this shift to the “long-term strategic planning and implementation of schemes” across every sector under PM Modi.Highlighting the impact of the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system, Shah said that a former PM had admitted that of every rupee that is sent from Delhi to states, only 15 paise reached the actual beneficiaries. “Today, the entire amount is deposited directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, ushering in a new era of poverty alleviation,” he said. Recalling his travels through the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh before 2014, Shah described witnessing extreme poverty where families routinely lacked housing, electricity, toilets, and clean water — deprivations he stated have since been heavily countered.The newly launched PM-FCT pilot is a digital platform designed to integrate multiple welfare databases. It will track and monitor the health, nutrition, education, and social welfare of children from before birth up to the age of 16, ensuring seamless delivery of maternal and child welfare schemes.
