PUNE: More than 2,000 phone calls, a friendship that allegedly began at a Diwali party, and meetings at a café where investigators claim the murder plot was discussed, these are among the key findings Pune Rural Police say have emerged in the probe into businessman Ketan Agrawal’s killing.According to Pune Rural Police, Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary first met at a Diwali party last year and gradually developed a close friendship.Investigators claimed the two remained in regular contact over the following months and allegedly exchanged more than 2,000 phone calls.Police further alleged that before the incident, the two met at a café where they discussed plans to kill Ketan Agrawal and identified possible spots at Lohagad Fort from where he could be pushed.
Cops join the dots
Investigators have also claimed that the alleged conspiracy may have taken shape during a visit to Lohagad Fort on May 31.During that trip, Siya allegedly observed Ketan sitting near the edge of the fort and first considered the possibility of killing him, police said.Police further claim that an initial attempt to execute the alleged plan was made on June 14, when Siya reportedly tried to push Ketan off the fort. However, after the attempt allegedly failed, she raised an alarm about spotting a snake and later claimed that he had fallen accidentally during the panic.
Three attempts at fort earlier
The police suspect that Siya allegedly wanted more time for herself and was unwilling to proceed with the marriage despite pressure from her family.Police further claimed that although Siya had grown close to co-accused Chetan Chaudhary and liked him, she was also not prepared to marry him at present.Investigators suspect that Siya allegedly wanted to eliminate Ketan Agrawal while continuing her relationship with Chetan Chaudhary. Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in seven-day police custody till June 29 while further investigation continues.(With ANI inputs)
