Hyderabad: The Begum Bazar police arrested a 20-year-old habitual offender on Sunday for allegedly committing a house burglary in Goshamahal earlier this month. Police recovered around 206 grams of stolen gold ornaments and cash of ₹2.14 lakh, with the total value of the seized property estimated at nearly ₹30 lakh.According to the police, the accused Amar Sonkambale, a resident of NM Guda in Kishan Bagh, worked as a waiter in function halls. Originally from Udgir village in Maharashtra’s Latur district, he was involved in three house burglary cases and one Pocso case.Police said the burglary took place in the early hours of May 6 at a house in Hindi Nagar, Goshamahal, within the limits of the Begum Bazar police station. The complainant, M Krishna, reported that unknown persons broke into his residence between 3.30 am and 5.30 am and stole gold ornaments weighing about 235 grams along with nearly ₹10 lakh in cash.Police said the accused had expensive habits, including alcohol consumption, smoking and visiting pubs, and allegedly turned to theft to meet his expenses.
