Koraput: Two Class II students were injured after the main entrance gate of a govt school and a portion of the adjoining cement boundary wall collapsed on them while they were entering the campus in Koraput district on Thursday. The incident took place at Kaladi Project Upper Primary School under Kasandi panchayat in Nandapur block. The injured students were identified as Deepak Majhi (7) and Kamesh Khil (8).Villagers and school authorities immediately reached the spot, rescued the children from beneath the debris and shifted them to Nandapur community health centre. Both students received first aid and are now out of danger, hospital sources said.“The children sustained minor injuries and were given immediate medical treatment. Their condition is stable, and they have been discharged after first aid,” a health official at the Nandapur community health centre said. School authorities said the entrance gate weakened over time and collapsed. “We have informed the Nandapur block education officer and the block development officer about the incident and requested immediate action to ensure the safety of students,” a school official said.
