Silchar: Dima Hasao police seized two pistols, ammunition and a mobile phone from a forest camp, detaining one person, officials said.Acting on information, a police team raided a makeshift camp at Dauhaja under Langting police station on Sunday evening. The accused had set up a temporary tent on a jhum cultivation plot inside the forest.Police recovered a .22-calibre pistol, a .32-calibre pistol, ammunition and a mobile phone during the search.A person found at the site was detained for questioning. The seized items were taken into police custody.Police are investigating the source of the firearms, why they were kept at the camp and the detained person’s alleged links to the weapons. They are also examining whether more people were involved.Further investigation is underway, police said.
