Nagpur: The death toll in the SBL Energy Ltd factory at Raulgaon in Kalmeshwar in Nagpur district explosion has risen to 22 after two more injured workers succumbed to severe burn injuries over the weekend.Amrapali Kalsarpe (36) died around 11pm on Saturday while undergoing treatment. She had suffered 55% burns in the blast and had undergone surgeries. Doctors said she remained on ventilator support since the incident. Another injured worker, Roshani Umathe (32), died on Sunday. She had sustained 75% burns along with a fracture in her left forearm.
Amrapali’s death has deeply affected her family as she leaves behind two children — a 10-year-old son and a 14-year-old daughter. Her husband had died years ago, and she had taken the job at the factory through her brother-in-law. She lived in Raulgaon.Earlier last week, Durga Keshav Sevatkar (42), who had suffered nearly 60% burn injuries, died while undergoing treatment. With four workers dying within a week due to injuries, 14 women remain under treatment at the Orange City Hospital and Research Institute (OCHRI).The powerful explosion at the factory on March 1 had initially killed 17 workers on the spot. Another injured worker was declared brought dead when shifted to the hospital the following day.Before the latest deaths, Ranjana Uttam Ghagre (34) had succumbed to injuries last Monday after battling for nearly 24 hours.Doctors treating the victims said the injured workers suffered burn injuries ranging between 30% and 70% and continue to remain under close medical monitoring as efforts are being made to stabilise their condition.
