Kanpur : Bithoor police arrested two more accused in the Mandhana gang rape case involving a teenager from Varanasi after an operation near Ganga Barrage turn. The police have already arrested one accused, a hostel operator, on Wednesday and sent him to jail the next day. The rape survivor’s magisterial statement could not be recorded on Friday due to the court being closed. Meanwhile, police are bringing her family member from Varanasi to the city. After the magisterial statement is recorded on Saturday, the rape survivor will be handed over to her family members.A 16-year-old teenager from the Cantt police station area of Varanasi came to Mandhana on Tuesday evening, where she met hostel operator, and his two associates. The three accused took the girl to a hostel on Mandhana Tikra Road on the pretext of arranging a room for her. The hostel belongs to the accused hostel operator. The all three accused gang raped the Varanasi girl and fled after executing the crime.Bithoor police and the forensic team went to the hostel with the rape survivor on Thursday and, after investigation, sent the evidence collected from the hostel room for examination. After this, the police arrested the accused hostel operator on Wednesday itself. He confessed his involvement in the gangrape. Meanwhile, when the mobile number location of his to associates was traced to Bheeti village in Bikru, a raid was conducted. Somehow they got the information of the police raid and both the accused fled to evade arrest. On Friday, police arrested both the accused near Gambhirpur Kachhar village located at Ganga Barrage Mod. According to police, both also confessed to their crime. A case was also registered against the accused in 2022 under sections including rioting and assault. ACP Kalyanpur Ashutosh Kumar said that all 3 accused have been sent to jail.The girl’s magisterial statement could not be recorded due to the court being closed. Police will bring the family member to the city by late night. They will also bring documents, including the teenager’s age certificate, on the basis of which the survivor’s statement will be recorded on Saturday. Until then, the victim will stay at Nari Niketa.
