Bengaluru: Two men were killed in an early morning accident on National Highway 44 near Vidyashilpa Cross in Yelahanka. The victims, Siddartha, 18 and Shanthappa Metri, 35, residents of Allalsandra and natives of Sedam in Kalaburagi, worked as labourers. Police said they had returned from Hyderabad on a private bus and got down near Vidyashilpa Cross, where there is no designated stop.While attempting to cross the highway, they were hit by a speeding KTM Duke heading towards Devanahalli. The impact caused fatal injuries, killing both on the spot.The rider, Altaf Pasha, 19, from Mathikere, sustained fractures. Police suspect he was racing with friends, had borrowed the bike, and did not possess a valid licence.A complaint has been filed against the rider, the bus driver for stopping at an unauthorised point, and the National Highways Authority of India for failing to install median barriers. Police said they had repeatedly warned authorities about safety lapses on the stretch.
