Shimla: Two persons were killed and another sustained injuries after the jeep they were travelling in fell into a rivulet in the Bandla panchayat area near Palampur in Kangra district Saturday night.The victims were identified as 23-year-old Abhay and 27-year-old Varun, both residents of Bandla. Nishant was critically injured in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital in Tanda.Abhay was reportedly driving the vehicle when it skidded off the road due to heavy rainfall near the Chhid Chowk and fell into the Neugal rivulet.The locals called the emergency services, and the victims were taken to the civil hospital in Palampur, where doctors, after examination, declared two of the youngsters dead. Nishant was referred to Tanda Medical College and Hospital.Passengers injured Meanwhile, around a dozen passengers suffered injuries when a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus met with an accident due to a suspected brake failure, near Ghebhat Behar on the Mubarikpur-Bharwain road in Una district.According to an official, prima facie, the bus went out of control due to brake failure, and the driver, showing presence of mind, steered the vehicle into a nearby hill.Around a dozen passengers suffered injuries in the accident. The bus was on its way from Dharamshala to Hoshiarpur, and there were around 40 passengers on board, the official added.MSID:: 130208129 413 |
