Ambala: Two persons were killed as a truck overturned, crushing a motorcyclist and a three-wheeler driver under it on Sunday. The accident, in which a car was also damaged, was reported at a bridge in Shahpur area of Ambala district. A team from Parao police station reached the spot on National Highway (NH)-44 and found two bodies under the overturned truck.

As per the information, the loaded truck lost was speending when it rammed a passing motorcycle and a three-wheeler. After hitting the two vehicles, the truck overturned onto a car ahead. The four occupants of the car had a narrow escape and were rescued unhurt, but their vehicle was seriously damaged.The incident caused a long traffic jam for several kilometres on the New Delhi-Ambala highway. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in the jam, and people suffered inconvenience. Traffic later returned to normal after the accident vehicles were removed from the highway. A BSNL employee, a resident of Kurukshetra, who had a narrow escape, said, “I was driving my car to work in Ambala Cantonment, when a speeding truck came from behind and rammed into our vehicle. The first then rammed a bike and an auto, and then it hit our car before overturning on the road. There were four people in our car, and we had a lucky, narrow escape. We all work in BSNL at Ambala Cantonment. We escaped unhurt,” said the employee.Parao SHO Dharamveer said he came to know of the accident at 10am. A chemical-loaded moving truck, in an attempt to save a car that came in front of it, hit a bike and a three-wheeler. Both the bike rider and the three-wheeler driver were crushed under the truck and died on the spot. The occupants of the car had a narrow escape. 2 persons died in the accident. The matter is being investigated. We took the bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem.”
