Dumka: Two men in their 20s were killed and another was injured when the motorcycle in which they were travelling was hit by a pickup vehicle and an SUV on NH-133 near Nistara village in Godda district on Friday, police said.Witnesses said the two vehicles were racing to overtake each other at high speed when they collided with the motorcycle carrying three youths. All three riders were flung onto the road after impact. Both the vehicles fled after the accident.The deceased were identified as Chandan Kumar Rai of Kurman and Sanjeev Rai of Firozpur. Chandan’s father, Arjun Rai, said his son was going to Mahagama to deliver wedding invitations for his sister, Kajal Kumari, whose marriage is scheduled for July 1.Sunny Kumar Rai of Kurman Lambatikar suffered serious injuries and, after primary treatment at a local health centre, was referred to Godda Sadar Hospital for advanced care.“Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding and reckless overtaking by the pickup and SUV as possible causes,” said an officer from Pathargama police station, adding that attempts were on to identify both the vehicles.In Sahibganj district on Thursday, two motorcycle riders were killed in a head-on collision with a truck on the Barhet-Borio main road near Harishchandrapur village. The victims were identified as 26-year-old Babudhan Tudu of Kumharia and Sid Soren, 18, of Shaharpur. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene.According to reports, Babudhan was returning from his in-laws’ home in Sanjori and offered Sid a lift. Their motorcycle reportedly collided head-on with a truck travelling from Borio towards Barhet. Babudhan died on the spot, while Sid was taken to the Barhet community health centre, where a doctor provided initial treatment before he was referred to a higher centre.Delays in family arrival and transfer arrangements preceded Sid’s subsequent death, sources said.Barhet police sent both bodies to Sahibganj for post-mortem examination.
