Dhubri: Two people were killed, and five others were seriously injured when a pickup van crashed into an electric pole in Assam’s Dhubri district.The accident occurred at Raniganj while the vehicle was travelling towards Cooch Behar with sound-system equipment used for a Durga Puja programme in Assam.The deceased were identified as Dilip Das of Ghogargaon in Tufanganj and Rupen Bhakat of Bhakunmari in Cooch Behar, West Bengal.The pickup van came to Assam from Cooch Behar on hire. After the programme ended, it was returning to Cooch Behar when the driver lost control and rammed into an electric pole.Raniganj police reached the spot, recovered the bodies and shifted the injured to a hospital. The accident cast a pall of gloom over the area.
