Mohali: Two labourers were killed and another injured after a portion of a mud wall collapsed on them at a construction site on Airport Road in Mohali on Thursday night.As per preliminary information, basement digging was underway at a depth of around 15 feet for a retaining wall when the mud wall caved in, trapping three labourers, said Mohali deputy commissioner Komal Mittal.The three men were pulled out from the debris and taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared two of them dead. The third labourer is under treatment.The identities of the deceased were yet to be ascertained, said police. The SDM has been asked to prepare a detailed report, said Mittal. A private hospital is being built at the site in Aerocity.Local councillor Harvinder Singh said, “We had warned the contractor about the danger after a portion of the sewerage structure had collapsed, but no heed was paid to the warnings. Unfortunately, the fatal accident has now occurred.”The cause of the collapse and whether safety measures were followed at the construction site will be ascertained in the probe report, said an official.
