Chandigarh: UT Police arrested two juveniles for the murder of a state-level women’s hockey player allegedly over a property dispute, and recovered the knife used in the crime, officials said. The arrests were made by a team from Sector 39 police station. Police said both juveniles were apprehended from the area shortly after the incident and were sent to the juvenile home in Sector 25. A murder case was registered at Sector 39 police station on March 5.According to the complaint filed by Ravi Kumar, an auto driver from Sector 38, his grandfather owned house number 682/1 in Sector-38A. He alleged that for about 22 years, his sister Tina, her minor son, and their relatives — Ravi and his sons Gagan, Raj, and Aniket — had forcibly occupied the house.Ravi Kumar told the police that on March 5 at around 3:30pm, his daughter Taniya (21), Khushi (16), and nephew Manav (16) went to the house to resolve the dispute. He alleged that during this time, Tina, her minor son, and other accused began quarrelling with them.The complainant alleged that during the fight, a minor attacked Taniya on her back with a sharp knife, after which she collapsed with serious injuries. It was also alleged that the accused attacked Manav with an iron spade, causing injuries.Taniya was taken to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16 (GMSH-16), in critical condition and doctors declared her dead on arrival, police said. The accused also allegedly pelted stones at the complainant’s Swift car.Police said further investigation was on and that they were verifying the roles of others named in the case.MSID:: 129151963 413 |
