Mangaluru: Bajpe police arrested two men for allegedly attempting to sell ganja near Polali Dwara on NH-169 on Saturday. The accused are Rakshith, 23, and Akshay B, 23, both from Benjanapadavu in Bantwal taluk. Acting on information, police conducted a raid along the Moodubidire–Mangaluru stretch of the highway at Mulur village. They found the accused in possession of 1.2kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 65,000. They also seized small transparent zip-lock covers used to package the ganja, a digital weighing scale, two cellphones and a scooter purportedly used in the offence. The value of the seized property is about Rs 1.7 lakh. A case has been registered at Bajpe police station, invoking sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The accused were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
