Jaipur: Police here Tuesday arrested two men accused of triggering a drunken hit-and-run rampage that left three people, including a three-year-old girl, dead and three others seriously injured after a speeding car ploughed into multiple vehicles over nearly two kilometres before its occupants fled.Police identified the arrested accused as Sandeep alias Suraj (21), a native of Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh who allegedly drove the car, and Indrajeet Singh alias Gopi (21) of Mathura. A third accused, identified as Sajan, is absconding.According to investigators, the three allegedly consumed alcohol before setting out in the car Monday and decided to drive towards Nahargarh. Police alleged that despite passing through busy city roads, Sandeep continued driving at high speed, striking multiple vehicles before abandoning the car and fleeing.The incident began around 12.20am near LMB Hotel intersection on Sanga Setu Road under Malpura Gate police station limits. Police said the Honda Amaze first rammed a motorcycle carrying Vishnu Goyal (37), his wife Shweta (28), their daughter Srishti (3) and five-year-old son Chirag. Vishnu and Srishti died on the spot, while Shweta and Chirag sustained serious injuries and remain under treatment at SMS Hospital.Police said the car then continued without stopping and struck an Activa scooter, seriously injuring Akash Gurjar (29) and Lakshya Varjani (22). A short distance later, it hit another motorcycle in the Sanganer area, critically injuring Rajendra Singh (45), who later died during treatment. The speeding car also collided with a Hyundai before the three occupants abandoned the vehicle and escaped.Police said a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. The Honda Amaze allegedly used in the incident has been seized.Police said Sandeep worked as a bus driver with a private travel company in Sanganer and had hosted his relatives, Indrajeet and Sajan, at his rented accommodation Sunday night. Following the incident, investigators tracked down and arrested Sandeep and Indrajeet, while raids are on to trace Sajan.
