Madikeri: Police attached to Shanivarsanthe police station in Kodagu district arrested two persons on Sunday for allegedly transporting 17kg of beef illegally on a two-wheeler.Acting on a tip-off provided by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, police intercepted and arrested Abjul, a native of Assam, and Ashik, a native of West Bengal. The duo was allegedly transporting the beef from Abburu Machigondanalli in Arkalgud taluk to Kodlipet. Circle inspector G Krishnaraj of Shanivarsanthe police station has registered a case and initiated further investigation.Man dies of heart attack at airportA 52-year-old man from Kodagu died of a heart attack shortly after arriving at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, from Kuwait.The deceased was identified as Bashir, son of the late Mammad and a resident of Master Layout, near the KEB office in Suntikoppa, Kodagu district. According to police sources, Bashir suffered a heart attack at the airport and died. His body will be brought to Suntikoppa for the last rites.Bashir had been working in Kuwait for several years. He is survived by his wife and daughters.
