Dibrugarh: Two motorcycle-borne chain snatchers targeted a man at the entrance of the DC’s office in Dibrugarh on Monday afternoon, making off with two gold chains worth approximately Rs 12 lakh.The brazen daylight robbery has raised questions over security arrangements at one of the district’s most prominent govt offices.The incident took place around 3 pm in the presence of security personnel. The victim, identified as Hrishikesh Goswami, is a resident of Madarkhat in Lahowal.As he was climbing the steps leading to the office premises, two motorcycle-borne individuals wearing full-face helmets accosted him. One of them pushed Goswami onto the steps and snatched two gold chains from his neck before both fled the scene at speed.Goswami sustained injuries to his hand and leg from the fall, and his mobile phone was also damaged in the incident.Speaking about the incident, Goswami said, “One of them pushed me, and I fell on the steps. Before I could even react, they took the chains and fled. It all happened in a matter of seconds.”Goswami subsequently filed a complaint at the Milan Nagar Police Outpost, and an FIR has been registered.
