Jind: The court of additional district and sessions judge Jaibir Singh on Thursday awarded a seven-year sentence each to two men in connection with a culpable homicide case in Jind district.On the basis of effective prosecution by Jind police and strong evidence in a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, the court convicted Vishal alias Boniya and Mohit alias Momit alias Mohjeet, both residents of Daroli Khera village of Uchana Kalan town, sentencing each of them to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs 10,000 each, said the spokesperson.

The police spokesperson said that Uchana Kalan police station received information that Naresh, a resident of Daroli Khera, died at PGIMS Rohtak due to injuries sustained during a fight. Hitesh, also a resident of the same village, recorded his statement, stating that Vishal and Mohit, along with their associates, attacked his brother Naresh with lathis and sticks.The injured Naresh was first taken to Community Health Centre (CHC) Uchana, then rushed to the civil hospital located at the district headquarters, and later referred to PGIMS Rohtak, where doctors declared him dead.On the basis of this statement, a case was registered at Uchana police station. During the investigation, the police collected strong and concrete evidence.Due to the effective prosecution by Surender Khatakhar (DDA), the court branch, and Uchana police, the court, after considering all facts and evidence, convicted both the accused under Section 304 (Part II) read with Section 34. In case of non-payment of the fine, the accused will have to undergo additional imprisonment, the order reads.Jind police appealed to the public to immediately inform the police about any kind of criminal activity so that strict legal action could be taken in time, said officials.
