Chandigarh: Two persons allegedly died by suicide in separate incidents reported from different parts of the city. No suicide notes were recovered from either spot, police said. The bodies have been kept at the GMSH-16 mortuary for autopsy and inquest proceedings have been initiated.The deceased were identified as Sandeep, a native of Kanpur who had been staying with his sister in Behlana village for the past week, and Durgawati, a resident of Maloya.According to police, Sandeep was found hanging from a ceiling fan around 3.30am by his brother-in-law, Ram Sahay. The family members brought him down and rushed him to GMCH-32, where doctors declared him dead. Sector 31 police reached the spot, and mobile forensic teams conducted videography and photography of the scene.Preliminary investigation suggests that Sandeep had been unwell for a considerable period and was reportedly under distress due to his illness. He had come to stay with his sister for treatment.In a separate case, Durgawati lived in Maloya with her only daughter. Police said an argument broke out between the two after the daughter returned from work and found food had not been prepared. As the dispute escalated, the daughter left the house.When she returned after some time, she found her mother hanging from the ceiling with a dupatta. She raised an alarm, and residents informed the police.Maloya police reached the spot and shifted the body to GMSH-16 for postmortem. Officials said that apart from the deceased and her daughter, there are no other family members. Police are taking the assistance of a social service organisation for completing the autopsy and legal formalities.
