Dhubri: Two persons were killed after their vehicle plunged into a roadside pond at Kharuabandha late on Thursday night.The four-wheeler was travelling from Hatsingimari towards Mankachar along HM Road when the driver reportedly lost control and the vehicle fell into the pond.Residents alerted the Kharuabandha police outpost and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and began rescue efforts. Police and SDRF personnel reached the spot and retrieved the vehicle.The two occupants were taken to Hatsingimari District Hospital in a police vehicle, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.The deceased were identified as Al Mamun (28) and Madhu (32); both were residents of Diyara village.Preliminary information suggested that the youths were returning home from Hatsingimari when the accident occurred.Kharuabandha police conducted the necessary investigation at the hospital in the presence of a magistrate. The bodies were sent to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital on Friday morning for an autopsy.
