Mumbai: Two directors of a construction firm accused of cheating an NRI of Rs 10.5 crore were arrested by the EOW. A magistrate’s court remanded partners of Ajanta Airawat Infrastructure LLP Vishal Shah and Sukhpreet Kalsi to judicial custody. Rahul Gupta, in his complaint stated he had invested Rs 1.5 crore in 2012 through his company in the accused’s firm. The firm had acquired land in Bhandup for approximately Rs 1.5 crore. Gupta alleged that after retiring from the partnership in Feb 2016, he extended a loan of Rs 6 crore to the company which remained unpaid. In 2018, a settlement agreement was executed wherein the LLP agreed to repay Rs 10.5 crore within five months at 30% interest, failing which 16 flats were to be allotted to him. Gupta said neither the payment was made nor the flats were registered. He alleged the accused mortgaged the project.
