Varanasi: An educational tour took two children from Atal Residential School in Karsada, Varanasi to Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Isro, in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Children of construction labourers, Aparna and Shreyaansh, students of Class 6, met Isro scientists and learned about mysteries of the universe.Principal of Karsada Atal Residential School, Satyendra Prasad Singh, said Aparna and Shreyaansh Vishwakarma were selected for the trip to Isro after they topped in mathematics and science. Deputy labour commissioner of Varanasi region, Mahesh Kumar Pandey, said both students were sent on the 3-day (Feb 5 to 7) educational tour programme of Isro and visited other places too. Earlier, Shweta Satte, another Class 7 student of the school, too had visited Isro. Govt is operating Atal schools in all divisional headquarters of and at the one located in Karsada, children of construction workers, Covid orphans, and children eligible under CM Bal Seva Yojana are receiving free education. Following CBSE board, the school runs smart classes and are equipped with CCTV, solar panels, computer lab, astronomy lab, pure drinking water, sports activities and uniforms, books, stationery, food, etc are provided free of cost. “My son is studious, but we have no money to educate him,,” said Santosh Vishwakarma, the father of Shreyaansh, adding, “Thanks to Yogi govt, he got opportunity to study and I could never even dream that my son would be able to go to such a big place.”Aparna’s father Mrityunjay Singh said, “My daughter got opportunity to study in English medium. What govt is doing for children from poor families, we cannot afford in our entire lifetime.”
