Pune: The election machinery has set up 192 hearing centres across Pune district to process claims and objections after the draft electoral rolls are published, election officials told TOI. “The numbers may increase or decrease depending on the draft roll,’’ officials said.The verification and submission of enumeration forms will continue until Aug 8 and the draft electoral rolls will be published on Aug 17. Electors whose names are missing, deleted, or require corrections can file claims and objections which will be heard at these designated centres before the final electoral rolls are published in Oct.The district has appointed 473 assistant electoral registration officers to conduct hearings in the 192 venues in 21 assembly constituencies based on the size of the electorate and the workload.Bhosari has the highest number with 32 centres, followed by Indapur with 25, Bhor-Rajgad-Mulshi has 20 and Daund has 19. Other constituencies have between one and 15 hearing centres each.The hearings allow electoral authorities to decide on requests for inclusion, deletion and correction of voter details before the final electoral roll is notified, officials said.
