Gorakhpur: A 19-year-old BSc first-year student was allegedly stabbed to death while sleeping on the veranda of his house in Jayantipur village in Gorakhpur’s Bansgaon area early Thursday. The victim was alone at home as his family had gone to Lucknow for his father’s kidney treatment.The deceased, a resident of Jayantipur village under Bansgaon police station limits, was the youngest of three siblings. According to family members, his father has been suffering from a kidney ailment for the past four to five years and had recently travelled to Lucknow for treatment and a possible transplant procedure.Police said the victim had dinner on Wednesday night and went to sleep. Around 5 am on Thursday, an unidentified assailant allegedly attacked him with a knife, inflicting a fatal injury to his head.After villagers found him lying injured, he was rushed to a nearby primary health centre, where doctors declared him dead. CO Khajni Anuj Singh, along with a forensic team, reached the spot and collected evidence. Police said the body would be sent for postmortem after the arrival of family members.Investigators are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and trace the assailant.
