Vadodara: A 19-year-old woman was killed after she came under a road roller when the scooter she was riding skidded on a wet road near Kismat Crossroads in the Tandalja area on Saturday. Two other young women travelling with her escaped with minor injuries.The deceased, Mehinbanu Irshad Ali Saiyed, was a resident of Zamzam Park Society in the area. According to police, Mehinbanu and two other women were on a scooter going towards their home when the vehicle skidded due to the wet road surface. All three fell onto the road, and Mehinbanu was run over by a road roller that was passing alongside them. She died on the spot.The accident was captured on a CCTV camera near the junction. The incident drew a large crowd and Mehinbanu’s family members rushed to the spot on learning about the accident. Her body was shifted to Gotri Hospital for a postmortem.Police launched an investigation and are in the process of registering an offence against the road roller driver, who fled the scene.
