T’puram: Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, city police on Monday detained 188 habitual offenders during a special drive titled ‘Operation Dark Hunt’. Police teams conducted coordinated checks and surveillance across city limits targeting individuals with a history of criminal activities. Officials said the drive was aimed at ensuring public safety, preventing crime and maintaining law and order in the run-up to assembly elections scheduled next month. Police sources said such drives would continue in the coming days as part of efforts to strengthen security and maintain peace during the election period. TNN
