Koraput: Police have installed 14 CCTV cameras at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Jeypore. The surveillance system has been set up at key locations on the hospital premises, including the entry and exit points as well as parking areas. Four cameras each have been installed at the hospital’s main entry and exit gates, while six cameras were placed in parking zones to keep a close watch on vehicle movement and public activity.SDPO (Jeypore) Archita Mittal said the initiative was taken following repeated complaints from patients and attendants regarding incidents of motorcycle theft and nuisance created by anti-social elements on the premises. “Over the past few months, we have received several complaints about bike thefts and other anti-social activities in and around the hospital premises. Considering the large number of people visiting the hospital every day, it was necessary to strengthen surveillance. The CCTV cameras will help deter criminal activities and improve overall security,” she said.Mittal further informed that a dedicated control room has been established within the hospital for monitoring the camera feeds. “The surveillance system will be monitored regularly, and police personnel will keep a close watch on suspicious movements. The footage will also aid investigations whenever required,” she added.Ramesh Kumar, a Jeypore resident, who frequently visits the hospital, said, “The hospital remains crowded throughout the day, and there have been instances of theft and other disturbances. The CCTV cameras will help prevent such incidents and make visitors feel safe.”
