New Delhi: Thirteen people were rescued after a fire broke out in a residential building in East Patel Nagar, central Delhi, on Tuesday. The rescued included three men, seven women and three children.The incident triggered panic as thick smoke filled the building, leaving residents on upper floors unable to evacuate. According to Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the fire started in a cluster of 10 metres on the ground floor.The building has a ground floor and three upper storeys. Flames and dense smoke posed a risk to those trapped inside. Firefighters rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. A fire official said the blaze was brought under control before it could spread to other parts of the building. No injuries were reported.While the exact cause is yet to be ascertained, police suspect an electrical fault in the meter board.The fire follows recent incidents in the city, including a fatal blaze in Palam that killed nine family members and another in Tri Nagar that injured five.
