Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police’s Proclaimed Offenders (PO) cell arrested 13 absconders wanted in various cases during a special drive, officials said Thursday.All the accused were produced before a court. While some were remanded to judicial custody, others were granted bail.Police said seven of the arrested persons were wanted in criminal cases registered in the state, three were proclaimed offenders in cheque bounce cases, two were facing non-bailable warrants, and one had been re-arrested in a pending matter.The arrested accused were identified as Dinesh Pal alias Kala (21) of Naya Gaon, Mamta Sood (48) of Sector 38-West, Ankit alias Soor (26) of Dadumajra, Sooraj Pal alias Sahil (25) of EWS colony, Dhanas, Happy alias Champ (32) of New Indira Colony, Manimajra, Mohd Ashiq alias Aashif (36) of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh, Kishan alias Mulayam (27) of Small Flats, Dhanas, Surendra Singh of Sector 20-A, Vikas Kumar Malhotra of Sector 34, Ajay Kumar of Burail, Bilhar Singh of Kharar, Manisha of Burail and Suneet Kaur (48) of Sector 8.The operation was carried out by teams headed by Inspector Harbhajan Singh, incharge of the PO Cell, under the supervision of SSP Kanwardeep Kaur and DSP P Abhinandan.Police said the drive against proclaimed offenders and absconders will continue to ensure the execution of pending warrants and strengthen law enforcement.
