New Delhi: Delhi govt sanctioned over Rs 125 crore for remodelling stormwater drains across nearly 28km of major road stretches in north Delhi under the New Drainage Master Plan, water minister Parvesh Verma said on Tuesday.The approved works included three projects that covered key stretches along the Ring Road that witnessed waterlogging during the monsoon, including Model Town-2 Road, Model Town-3 Road, Kushal Cinema Road and the Azadpur H-Point to Mukarba Chowk stretch along the Mall Road Extension. Calling the project a structured intervention, Verma said the remodelling was being carried out to address long-standing drainage issues in a comprehensive manner.The Public Works Department also proposed a fresh round of drainage construction and remodelling works across several key arterial stretches under the department’s southern roads division.The proposed project works worth over Rs35 crore across eight major road corridors. It included the construction and remodelling of the drainage system on JLN Marg from Kamla Market rotary to Asaf Ali Road and on Asaf Ali Road. The plan also included remodelling of the existing drainage system on Boulevard Road from St Stephen’s Hospital to Bhagwan Dass Chowk on both sides.
