T’puram: Kundara police in Kollam on Tuesday registered a case of burglary reported from Keralapuram, where an unidentified miscreant allegedly broke into a house and decamped with around 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments.The theft took place at the residence of Vijith at 11.45am on Thursday. According to the complaint, Vijith’s elderly mother was the only person present at the house when the incident occurred. Police said the accused first rang the calling bell and ensured that no one else was inside before entering the house. He then managed to steal the gold ornaments without raising suspicion. CCTV footage from cameras installed in house as well as along the road captured clear images of the suspect. Footage shows a well-dressed young man approaching the house. Investigators traced the suspect’s movements before and after the crime. He was seen arriving at Keralapuram Jn on a KSRTC bus from Kottarakkara and walking towards the house. After committing the theft, he returned to the bus stop and boarded a private bus heading towards Kundara. The visuals have provided leads for police, who are now working to identify and trace the accused. TNN
