Jaipur: Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) on Monday arrested 12 persons, including original candidates, for allegedly hiring impersonators to appear in BSTC (Pre DLEd) exams of 2019 and 2020 in exchange for money.Additional DG (SOG) Vishal Bansal said the accused, mostly from Udaipur Rural and other districts, colluded with dummy candidates to fraudulently secure admission. One accused, Ravindrsingh Musawat, was arrested from Bharatpur. The case dates back to Feb 4, 2021, when Rohat police in Pali detained Ashok Saran under suspicious circumstances. Documents recovered from him pointed to a wider racket involving impersonators writing the BSTC exam on behalf of candidates. Following this, SOG registered a case and began a detailed probe. Investigators collected original records from the registrar of education departmental examinations in Bikaner and obtained specimen signatures and handwriting samples of the accused. “Forensic examination confirmed mismatches between the handwriting and signatures of candidates and those on exam records, establishing impersonation,” Bansal said. Acting on leads, SOG teams were deployed across the state under DIG Paris Deshmukh to track the accused. Eleven were arrested from Udaipur Rural in a coordinated action with district police, while another was nabbed in Bharatpur. Officials said further investigation is underway to identify other members of the network and examine links with similar recruitment exam frauds.
