Kanpur: An 11-year-old girl died by suicide at her home in Sanjeev Nagar under Chakeri police station on Tuesday morning.According to the family members, the girl had stopped going to school for the past few days and was mentally disturbed. Her family said they took her to several doctors and also sought help through exorcism rituals, but her condition did not improve. Her father, a govt schoolteacher posted in Chaudagra, Fatehpur, said Sanjoli had witnessed the young woman’s fall while returning from school. The woman was said to have died by suicide after jumping from the rooftop.Sanjoli was later sent to her maternal uncle’s home in Bhitargaon, where she stayed for around 10 days. She returned with him two or three days ago. On Tuesday morning, Sanjoli cooked food with her mother. Her father then left for work, while her mother went to drop her younger son at school. Sanjoli was alone at home when the incident occurred.Chakeri inspector Ajay Kumar Mishra said the family claimed that she was mentally unwell.
