Dhanbad: As many as 11 alleged cybercriminals were arrested and Rs 2.85 lakh, 19 mobile phones, ATM cards, passbooks, cheque books and other items were seized during a late-night raid at Pithakiari village in the district.SP (rural) Mohammad S Yakub told a news conference on Friday evening that the raid was part of “Cyber Shield”, a mega operation launched on the directions of Dhanbad SSP to curb rising cybercrime.Police received a tip-off on Oct 1 that a group in Pithakiari was allegedly preparing to execute a major cybercrime. A special team led by Yakub subsequently raided the village. The operation involved 35 police officers and 120 personnel from several police stations and outposts.The team included probationary ASP Ankit Sinha, Nirsa SDPO Lileshwar Mahto and DSP (CCR) Pradeep Kumar Saw, besides officers from Govindpur, Chirkunda, Panchet, Galfarbari, Maithon, Kumardhubi, Kalubathan, MPL and Bhuli.The accused were identified as Shyam Sundar Ravidas, Rahul Ravidas, Sachin Ravidas, Male Ravidas, Shyam Padho Ravidas, Jhantu Thakur, Kundan Barnwal, Arman Ravidas, Ajay Ravidas, Vijay Ravidas and Sagar Ravidas. All are residents of Pithakiari. The accused are aged between 19 and 39 years.Police are examining the seized banking documents to trace the alleged network and identify other links. Further investigation is under way.
