Amritsar: Punjab State Warehousing Corporation Amritsar district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa was cremated after his postmortem was conducted on Tuesday, while accused former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar was remanded for five-day police custody.Randhawa’s 10-year-old son lit the pyre. Earlier, when his body reached the residence, family and friends were overwhelmed with grief. The final rituals were performed, and he was adorned with a red turban. During this time, his wife kept gazing at his face, visibly emotional.The postmortem at the civil hospital lasted 4.5 hours. ACP Gagandeep Singh said the postmortem was completed and the body handed over to his relatives adding that the postmortem’s videgraphy was conducted in the presence of the board of doctors and executive magistrate.Randhawa allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison early Saturday morning at his residence. In a video, he held Bhullar responsible for taking the step. On Saturday night, police had registered a case on a complaint by Upinder Kaur against Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Singh, and his personal assistant Dilbagh Singh in connection with Randhawa’s suicide. The family had refused to allow a postmortem unless Bhullar was arrested and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case.On Monday, Bhullar was arrested in Mandi Gobindgarh.
