Karwar: The state govt will focus on farmers, youth and infrastructure as it accelerates administration and development over the next 100 days, cooperation and Uttara Kannada district in-charge minister Laxman Savadi said Friday.Speaking at the 80th Independence Day celebrations organised by the Uttara Kannada district administration at the Police Parade Ground in Karwar, Savadi said 10 ambitious initiatives would be implemented within 100 days.These are Raitha Mitra–Badavara Bandhu, Grama Anubhava, Yuva Yuga–Yuva Karnataka, Yuva Udyoga Sethu, govt hospital adoption, Nasha Mukta Karnataka, Praja Seva, Bhoomi Guarantee, Karnataka Mobility Grid Mission and Tegada Siri.He said steps had been taken to fill vacant govt posts and ensure transparency in recruitment examinations conducted by KPSC and KEA.The district has recorded a 16% rainfall deficit during the current monsoon. To address drinking water needs, 72 private borewells have been arranged, and Rs 1 crore has been allocated to each assembly constituency.A 300-bed super-speciality hospital has been sanctioned, and Rs 100 crore has been released in the first phase. MRI and CT scan facilities are being made available, and a cancer care unit is planned.Savadi said around 12,000 development works are under way, focusing on drought and flood mitigation, landslide prevention, afforestation and school development. He called for unity beyond caste, religion and language and urged people to contribute to building a prosperous and egalitarian society.Personnel from the police and forest departments, home guards, and students from various schools and colleges took part in an impressive parade.During the programme, Sarvottama Seva Awards were presented to govt employees for distinguished service. Students who had excelled in sports were felicitated, prizes were distributed to winners of the district-level chess competition, and membership cards were distributed to members of the Bharat Jodo Yuva Mission.The forest department released a map of tourist destinations in Uttara Kannada district, while the revenue department released a directory of its officers and staff.
