Dhubri: One person died on the spot, while another sustained serious injuries, when a dumper carrying stone hit an e-rickshaw on NH-172B at Amtola of Moterjhar under Golokganj police station of Dhubri district on Thursday.
After hitting the e-rickshaw, the dumper fled the scene. When the police rushed to the accident site, they were unable to trace the dumper in the area.The deceased has been identified as Anil Malakar and the injured as Khoibor Sheikh of Moterjhar locality. Sheikh has been shifted to the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for treatment, while Malakar’s body has been sent for an autopsy to the same hospital.Though deaths in road accidents had come down slightly in 2025, since Jan, 2026, death toll started rising on national highways and state PWD roads in western Assam districts.
