The University of Delhi (DU) has received an overwhelming response to its undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session, with more than 1.9 lakh aspirants registering through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). As the admission process moves into its crucial phase, the university is set to release the first seat allotment list on July 16.
University officials said that while over 1.90 lakh candidates have completed registration, more than 1.64 lakh applicants have already submitted their programme and college preferences, bringing the admission process closer to the first round of seat allocation.
More than 1.64 lakh candidates complete preference submission
According to the university, a total of 1,90,645 candidates have registered for undergraduate admissions under CSAS. Of these, 1,64,098 applicants have completed Phase II, which requires candidates to map their subjects and submit their preferred courses and colleges.
The university has asked candidates who are yet to complete the process to do so before the deadline. Once the submission window closes, preferences will be locked automatically, and no further changes will be permitted.
Officials have repeatedly advised students to review their choices carefully, as admissions in subsequent rounds will depend on the preferences submitted during this stage.
One-time correction window opened for applicants
Responding to requests from candidates who reported errors in their application forms, Delhi University has opened a one-time correction facility on the CSAS portal.
The correction window enables applicants to rectify mistakes in the information already submitted during registration. The facility was introduced after the university received multiple representations from students seeking an opportunity to correct inadvertent errors before the admission process advances. The correction period runs alongside the final phase of undergraduate registration and preference submission.
Admissions across 73 undergraduate programmes
For the 2026-27 academic session, Delhi University is offering admissions to 73 undergraduate programmes across 69 colleges and academic departments.
The university has made available 71,624 seats through the CSAS admission process. In addition, nearly 150 combinations under the Bachelor of Arts (BA) programme are being offered, giving candidates a wide range of academic options.
Admissions under supernumerary categories, including sports and extracurricular activities, will also be processed based on the programme and college preferences submitted by eligible applicants.
First seat allotment to be released on July 16
The first allocation list for undergraduate admissions will be published on July 16. Candidates who receive a seat will have to accept the allotment and complete the admission formalities within the stipulated schedule.
After paying the admission fee, students can either freeze their allotted seat or choose the upgrade option to be considered for a higher-preference programme or college in the subsequent rounds. Those opting for an upgrade will also be allowed to rearrange their higher preferences before the next allocation cycle.
Virtual wallet introduced to simplify fee payment
To make the admission process smoother, the university has introduced a virtual wallet mechanism for fee payments.
Under this system, candidates who secure an upgraded seat after paying the admission fee in an earlier round will have the amount automatically adjusted. The initiative is expected to eliminate repeated payments and simplify the financial process during multiple rounds of counselling.
Delhi University aims to complete two rounds of undergraduate admissions before the commencement of the new academic session on July 28.
Postgraduate and professional admissions also progress
Alongside undergraduate admissions, the university has continued the counselling process for postgraduate and professional programmes.
The third allocation list for two-year postgraduate courses, including performance-based programmes such as Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed), Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed), and Music, has already been released. Fresh allocations have been made across both regular postgraduate and performance-based programmes, while thousands of candidates have confirmed their admissions by freezing allotted seats.
The university has also reported registrations for one-year postgraduate programmes designed for students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022 aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Meanwhile, admissions for BTech programmes and integrated law courses are also progressing through separate allocation and spot admission rounds, as Delhi University enters one of its busiest admission seasons with thousands of aspirants competing for limited seats across its colleges.
